TUTORIAL: Ideas para trabajar con Antelina y ECOpiel/ Ideas to work with Antelina and ECOpile

Hola chic@s!! Soy María José de SCRAP PLANETA. Seguro que ya conocéis la maravillosa Ecopiel de Kora Proyects, y ahora su nueva Antelina. He querido probar las posibilidades de estos materiales nuevos con nuestras herramientas de siempre. 

Hi guys! I am María José from Scrap Planeta. Surely you already know the wonderful Ecoleather from Kora Proyects, and now its new Antelina. I wanted to test the possibilities of these new materials with our usual tools. 

Y aquí os traigo unas muestras en forma de agendas o libretas de estilo BOHO para que podáis ver cuantas cosas se pueden hacer con estos materiales. Quedan ideales para regalar en Navidad o en cualquier acontecimiento, y son muy rapiditas de hacer.

And here I bring you some samples in the form of agendas or BOHO-style notebooks so you can see how many things can be done with these materials. They are ideal for gifts at Christmas or at any event, and are very quick to make. 

Las libretas son de tamaño A6 y orientadas en vertical, y la estructura es la misma en todas, muy sencilla: Con 2 cartones de 1 mm de grosor de 11,5 x 16 cm realizamos las tapas, pegando los mismos sobre Ecopiel, Antelina o Kraf Tex y dejando al pegarlos un espacio entre ambos cartones de 1,5 cm. Se pega ideal con cola de encuadernar. Cortaremos el sobrante al forrar a ras de los cartones y e igualmente forraremos el interior con cartulina de color similar a las tapas cortando a ras de los cartones. Finalmente, distresamos los bordes.

The notebooks are A6 size and vertically oriented, and the structure is the same in all of them, very simple: With 2 1 mm thick 11.5 x 16 cm cartons we make the covers, gluing them on Ecoleather, suede or Kraf Tex and leaving a 1.5 cm space between the two cartons when gluing them. We will cut the excess when lining flush with the cartons and we will also line the inside with cardboard similar in color to the covers, cutting flush with the cartons. Finally, we spread the edges. 

En el lomito de nuestra libreta marcamos a 2,5 cm desde cada lateral y hacemos unos agujeritos equidistantes con el punzón. Cortamos 16 folios blancos por su mitad vertical y nos quedaría un trozo de papel de 10.5 x 29,5 cm) y hacemos 4 grupos de 8 trozos que doblamos por la mitad para tener los 4 cuadernillos. Cosemos cada cuadernillo, uno a uno, a las tapas. Yo lo hice de forma sencilla, simplemente pasando el cordón por cada agujero y anudando en el centro del cuadernillo.

On the spine of our notebook we mark 2.5 cm from each side and make some holes equidistant with the punch. We cut 16 white sheets in its vertical half we would have a piece of paper of 10.5 x 29.5 cm) and make 4 groups of 8 pieces that we fold in half to have the 4 booklets. We sew each booklet, one by one, to the covers. I did it easily, simply by passing the cord through each hole and knotting in the center of the booklet.

Para el primer modelo de libreta que hice utilicé un trozo de Ecopiel Kora Proyects color canela safari de 34 x 11,5 cm  y un trozo de Antelina elástica Kora Proyects de 34 x 11,5 cm color Marrón Capuchino. Después de forrar las tapas con la Ecopiel, pegué un trozo de antelina de 12x16 cm con cola de encuadernar y a pincel a una cartulina de 300 gr. Antes de que secara completamente la pasé por la Big Shot dentro de una carpeta de embosing. Queda un repujado fino pero con todo detalle y muy muy bonito en la mano.

For the first model of the notebook I made, I used a piece of Kora Proyects 34 x 11.5 cm eco-leather in tan and a piece of 34 x 11.5 cm Kora Proyects elastic suede in brown. After lining the covers with the Ecoleather, I glued a piece of suede of 12x16 cm with glue of binding and brush to a cardboard of 300 gr. Before it completely dried I ran it through the Big Shot inside an embossing folder. There is a fine embossing but with all the details and very very beautiful in the hand.

En la pieza embosada recorté un rectángulo de 13 x 10 cm y lo pegué a las tapas. Alrededor hice un marquito con la misma Ecopiel. Para terminar la decoración grabé todo el contorno de la libreta y el marco con un pirograbador. Utilicé un modelo básico de esta herramienta (creo que lo compré en una tienda de bricolaje por 6 €) y queda superbonito el efecto en la Ecopiel. La Ecopiel se marca con el pirograbador muy rápidamente, ya que al ser finita no necesita tiempo ni presión, pero no se quema y no desprende humo ni olor. Me gustó mucho este efecto de cuero grabado y lo voy a utilizar en más proyectos. Incluso me atreví a grabar mi nombre en la libreta (aunque tengo que mejorar mi caligrafía para estas cosas). 

In the embossed piece I cut out a 13 x 10 cm rectangle and glued it to the lids. Around I made a little frame with the same Ecoleather. To finish the decoration, I engraved the entire outline of the notebook and the frame with a pyrograph. I used a basic model of this tool (I think I bought it from a DIY store for € 6) and the effect on the Ecoleather is super nice. The Ecoleather is marked with the pyrograph very quickly, since being finite it does not need time or pressure, but it does not burn and does not give off smoke or odor. I really liked this engraved leather effect and I will use it in more projects. I even dared to engrave my name on the pad (although I have to improve my calligraphy for these things). 

La segunda libreta está realizada con las mismas técnicas. Las tapas están forradas con Kraf Tex, pero este material no se puede grabar con calor. Hice otro diseño con el pirograbador en el marquito de Ecopiel canela safari. Y para decorar troquelé una mariposa en Ecopiel marron capuchino. Nunca había probado los troqueles Thinlit de la Big Shot en la Ecopiel, y me quedé gratamente sorprendida por la calidad del corte.

The second notebook is made with the same techniques. The lids are lined with Kraf Tex, but this material cannot be heat engraved. I made another design with the pyrogravure in the Eco-leather cinnamon safari frame. And to decorate I embossed a butterfly in Ecoleather brown late. I had never tried the Thinlit dies from the Big Shot on the Ecoleather, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cut. 

Esta tercera libreta está forrada completamente con antelina de una pieza. Para embosarla cortamos un rectángulo de cartulina del mismo tamaño que las tapas y la pegamos. Embosaremos primero un lado y luego le damos la vuelta y embosamos el otro lado. En ésta para decorar simplemente pegué unos trocitos de cuero marrón oscuro y de antelina.

This third notebook is completely lined with one-piece suede. To ambush it, we cut a rectangle of cardboard the same size as the covers and glue it. We will ambush one side first and then flip it over and ambush the other side. In this one to decorate I simply glued a few pieces of dark brown suede leather. 

En este modelo la libreta está forrada con la Ecopiel canela safari, que previamente había embosado con la Big Shot. En este caso metí el rectángulo de Ecopiel en la carpeta de embosing tal cual, y el resultado también me pareció superbonito y original. El dibujo queda muy bien marcado. Para decorar troquelé la antelina con un troquel Thinlit. La antelina se corta bien con la Big Shot en diseños sencillos tipo círculos, estrellas, cuadrados …. pegándola a una cartulina y dejando que seque muy bien la cola antes de cortar el diseño.

On this occasion, the notebook is lined with the safari cinnamon Ecoleather, which had previously ambushed the Big Shot. In this case I put the Ecopiel rectangle in the embosing folder as is, and the result also seemed super cute and original. The drawing is very well marked. To decorate I punched the suede with a Thinlit die. The suede is cut well with the Big Shot in simple designs such as circles, stars, squares ... gluing it to a cardboard and allowing the glue to dry very well before cutting the design. 

Y cómo no, la última libreta tenía que ser un repujado con antelina y chipboards. La verdad es que queda precioso. Si bien las otras libretas quedaban muy dulces y sutiles, ésta queda con mucha fuerza, fuerza que le da ese relieve de los chipboards dobles y las técnicas de decoración de ellos.

And of course, the last notebook had to be an embossing with suede and chipboards. The truth is that it is beautiful. Although the other notebooks were very sweet and subtle, this one is very strong, a force that gives it that relief of the double chipboards and the decoration techniques of them. 

Tenéis varios tutoriales sobre cómo realizar esto de mis compañeras DTs de Kora, así que no lo repetiré ahora para no alargarnos. Para las decoraciones dos de los corazones están pintados en el interior con pintura acrílica color cobre de Stampería. Encima llevan una capa fina de Glossy. Los otros dos corazones de color violeta, llevan primero una capa de glossy generosa y encima, antes de secar, unas gotas de pátina para metal de Ranger (probé con varias cosas que tenía por casa, os animo a probar texturas con diferentes productos y ver resultados). El pajarito de metal también está pintado con esta pátina. Me encantó el resultado craquelado y tipo resina que queda. Estoy loca por probar este efecto con resina exposi.

You have several tutorials on how to do this from my fellow DTs in Kora, so I will not repeat it now so as not to drag on. I do explain how I made the decorations. Two of the hearts are painted inside with Stampería copper-colored acrylic paint. On top they have a thin layer of Glossy. The other two violet hearts have a generous layer of glossy first and on top, before drying, a few drops of Ranger metal patina (I tried several things I had around the house, I encourage you to try textures with different products and see results). The metal bird is also painted with this patina. I loved the remaining crackle and resin-like result. I am crazy to try this effect with exposi resin. 

Y bueno hasta aquí mis pruebas y experiencias con estos materiales nuevos de Kora tan bonitos y versátiles. Espero que os haya inspirado y probéis a realizar técnicas nuevas que nos abran un montón de posibilidades. Un besoooo scrapers.
